About Blake Shelton
Early Life
He was raised in a small town and spent his childhood fishing and hunting. When he was 12 years old, his parents divorced and he lived with his father. In high school, Shelton played football and baseball. He also sang in the school choir. After high school, he attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for one semester before dropping out to pursue a career in music.
Career
Shelton’s musical career began in 1994 when he was signed to Giant Records. His debut album, Blake Shelton, was released in 2001. The album’s lead single, “Austin”, became a number one hit on the Billboard Country charts. Shelton’s second album, The Dreamer, was released in 2003. The album’s lead single, “The Baby”, peaked at number five on the Country charts. In 2004, Shelton was signed to Warner Bros. Records. His third album, Blake Shelton’s Barn & Grill, was released in 2004. The album’s lead single, “Some Beach”, reached number one on the Country charts.
Shelton’s fourth album, Startin’ Fires, was released in 2008. The album’s lead single, “She Wouldn’t Be Gone”, peaked at number one on the Country charts. Shelton’s fifth album, Red River Blue, was released in 2011. The album’s lead single, “Honey Bee”, became Shelton’s sixth number one single on the Country charts. Shelton’s sixth album, Based on a True Story…, was released in 2013. The album’s lead single, “Sure Be Cool If You Did”, reached number one on the Country charts. Shelton has also released several successful singles, including “The More I Drink”, “Don’t Make Me”, and “God Gave Me You”.
