About Little Big Town
History
All four members of Little Big Town first met in the mid-1990s while singing in various church choirs and groups around their hometowns in Alabama and Georgia. They eventually started working together as a group, and by 1998, they had released their first self-titled album.
The four members of Little Big Town are all married. Karen Fairchild is married to Jimi Westbrook, who also performs in the group. Phillip Sweet is married to Rebecca Arthur, and Kimberly Roads is married to Stephen Schlapman.
Career
In 1998, the group released their first album, Little Big Town. The album included the singles “Everything Changes” and “Don’t Waste My Time”. The album was not a commercial success, selling only about 5,000 copies.
In 2005, Little Big Town released their second album, The Road to Here. The album’s first single, “Bring It On Home,” was a Top 20 hit on the country charts. The album’s second single, “Good as Gone,” was also a Top 20 hit. The record was a commercial success, selling over one million copies and being certified platinum by the RIAA. The Road to Here was Nominated for the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Country Album.
In 2007, Little Big Town released their third album, A Place to Land. The album’s first single, “I’m with the Band,” was a Top 10 hit on the country charts. The album’s second single, “Fine Line” was also a Top 10 hit.
In March 2010, Little Big Town released their fourth studio album The Reason Why. The album’s lead single “Little White Church” was the number six single on the Hot Country Songs chart in July 2010. In October 2011, they released a second single from the album, entitled “Kiss Goodbye”.
In May 2012, Little Big Town released their fifth studio album Tornado. The album’s lead-off single “Pontoon” topped both the Country Airplay chart and the Hot Country Songs chart, becoming their first Number One hit on both charts. The album’s second single, “Tornado”, was a Number Two hit on the Country Airplay chart. In 2013, Little Big Town won three Grammy Awards: Best Country Album for Tornado, Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Pontoon”. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album as platinum.
In September 2014, Little Big Town released their sixth studio album Pain Killer. The album’s lead single “Day Drinking” peaked at number 2 on the Country Airplay chart in January 2015. The album’s second single, “Girl Crush”, was released on radio on December 15, 2014. Upon its release, “Girl Crush” peaked at number 1 on the Hot Country Songs and number 3 on Country Airplay charts. It is also their first single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 18. “Girl Crush” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year.
On October 3, 2014, Little Big Town received an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. The group made its Opry debut on October 17. They are now members of country music’s most famous stage.
On June 10, 2016, Little Big Town released their seventh studio album, Wanderlust. The album’s first single, “One of Those Days”, was released to radio on May 24, 2016.
On February 24, 2017, Little Big Town released The Breaker. The album’s lead single, “Better Man”, was released on radio on October 20, 2016. The song peaked at number one on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, making it the group’s ninth number one single. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album as gold.
Nightfall is the first album of new material from Little Big Town in three years. It includes the single “The Daughters,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart.
