Eli Young Band was formed in 2000 by Mike Eli and James Young while they were students at the University of North Texas. Eli & Young duo began playing at locally at Rockin Rodeo and quickly began to develop a following. The two had been playing together since their first year and decided to form a band after graduation. The band’s big break came in 2008 when they were signed to Universal South Records.

Career

The band’s first album, Level, was released in 2005. The lead-off single “When It Rains” peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Country charts. The band’s second album, Jet Black & Jealous, was released in 2008 and included the singles “Always the Love Songs” and “Radio Waves”.

In 2008, Eli Young Band signed with Universal South Records and released their third studio album, Life at Best. The album’s lead single, “Crazy Girl”, became the band’s first No.1 hit on the Billboard Country charts and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The band’s fourth studio album, 10,000 Towns, was released in 2014 and includes the singles “Dust”, and “Drunk Last Night”.The “Drunk Last Night” singles peaked at No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart.

In 2017, Eli Young Band released their fifth studio album, Fingerprints. The album’s lead single, “Saltwater Gospel”, was co-written by all five band members and reached number one on the Country Airplay chart in October 2017.
