About Josh Abbott Band
History and Career
The band was formed in 2006 in Lubbock, Texas by Josh Abbott, Austin Davis, Neel Huey, and Andrew Hurt. All members were students at Texas Tech University at the time. The band’s first studio album, “Scapegoat”, was released in 2008. Preston Wait and Eddie Villanueva replaced Huey and Hurt after their departure from the band.
The band’s second album, “She’s Like Texas”, was released in 2010. The album entered the Top Country Albums chart. The lead single from the album, “Oh, Tonight”, peaked at number 44 on the Country Songs chart.
The band’s third album, “Small Town Family Dream”, was released in 2012. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard Country Albums chart. The lead single from the album, “Touch”.
In 2015, the band released their fourth studio album, “Front Row Seat”. The album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Hangin’ Around”, peaked at No. 47 on the Country Airplay chart. The album’s second single, “Wasn’t That Drunk”, featuring Carly Pearce, peaked at No. 37 on the Country Airplay chart.
In 2017, the band released their fifth studio album, “Until My Voice Goes Out”. The album debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and reached No. 141 Billboard 200. During the early hours of October 1, 2017, while the band was performing at the Route 91 Harvest festival on the Las Vegas Strip, a mass shooting occurred. The band canceled their scheduled shows for the remainder of the year. The Highway Kind, the band’s sixth studio album, was released in 2020.
