About Miranda Lambert

Biography

Lambert was born in Longview, Texas, to Rick and Bev Lambert. She was raised in Lindale, Texas, and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a music career. Miranda has a younger brother. Lambert graduated from high school in 2001.

In February 2006, Lambert began dating fellow country singer Blake Shelton. The couple got engaged in May of the 2010 year and were married on May 14, 2011. On July 20, 2015, Lambert and Shelton announced they were divorcing. Lambert started dating musician Evan Felker in early 2018 after he divorced his wife Staci. The couple broke up in August 2018. On January 26, 2019, it was revealed that Lambert was married to New York City Police Department Officer Brendan McLoughlin.

Music Career

Lambert’s self-titled debut album was released in 2001. The album received mixed reviews from critics. In 2002, Miranda Lambert made her first appearance on television on the talent show Nashville Star. She competed as a contestant during the first season of the reality show, where she placed third in the competition. After Nashville Star, Lambert was approached by many record labels but she turned them all down because she wanted to be sure that she had creative control over her music. She eventually signed with Sony Music executive in 2003.

Lambert’s debut studio album, Kerosene, was released on March 15, 2005. The album received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart and selling 40,000 copies within its first week. The album’s lead single, “Kerosene”, was a top 20 hit on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The album’s second single, “New Strings”, was also a success, peaking at number 25 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Album was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2008.

On May 1, 2007, Lambert released her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart and went on to be certified 2× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was followed by the singles “Famous in a Small Town” and “Gunpowder & Lead,” which reached No. 7 and No. 14 on the Country Songs Chart. In the Academy of Country Music Awards in late Spring 2008, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend took home Album of the Year.

Lambert’s third album, Revolution, was released on September 29, 2009. The album debuted at number 8 on both the US Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart, selling approximately 66,000 copies in its first week of release. It also produced Lambert’s second consecutive Number One hit on the Hot Country Songs chart in “The House That Built Me”. “Heart Like Mine” and “White Liar” were also released as singles from Revolution, reaching numbers 1 and 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart respectively. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album double platinum.

After the release of her third album, Miranda Lambert began working on material for a new album with her boyfriend at the time, Blake Shelton. She wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks on the album, which was released in November 2011 under the title Four the Record. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and 1 on the Top Country Albums charts. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling 1,014,000 copies in the United States.

In early 2011, Lambert formed a trio called the Pistol Annies with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The group released their debut album, Hell on Heels, that May. The album peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies in the United States.

Lambert’s fourth studio album, Platinum, was released in June 2014. It debuted at number 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts. The album’s lead single, “Automatic,” peaked at number 3 on the Country Airplay chart and number 4 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Platinum was certified platinum by the RIAA for selling over 850,000 copies in the United States.

Lambert’s sixth studio album The Weight of These Wings was released on November 18, 2016. The double album is Lambert’s longest release to date and her first double album. It is also her first album to be released on a major label since her departure from Columbia Nashville. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200, making it Lambert’s sixth consecutive top-ten album on the last chart. It received critical acclaim from music critics and won Album of the Year at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards.

In 2019, Lambert surprised fans by releasing a new single, “It All Comes Out in Wash”, on July 18, 2019. The song was her first release in almost three years. It served as the lead single to her seventh studio album, Wildcard, which was released on November 1, 2019. The album’s second single, “Bluebird”, was released to country radio on December 9, 2019, and peaked at number one on the Country Airplay chart. The album was also recognized with a Grammy for Best Country Album, as well as a CMA Award for Album of the Year. It was certified gold by the RIAA.

In early 2021, it was announced that Lambert would team up with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall for a new album entitled The Marfa Tapes. The album is set to be released on May 7, 2021. On October 1, 2020, it was announced that the Pistol Annies would release a Christmas album called A Very Merry Holiday. The album was released on October 30, 2020.
